We believe you will find these provide a nice balance of cost and aesthetics when compared to the justifiably more expensive and artistically intricate macramé plant hangers being made by people.

The design was made to provide balance between hand assembly and natural materials. Being called "The Golden Fiber" due to its natural luster, Jute is a well known cord that is incredibly strong in spite of its low cost. Its nickname is attributed to the fiber's "yellowing" over time when exposed to direct sunlight for long durations.

It should be noted that Jute does weaken when continually wet or in high humidity regions, so we strand our hangers with multiple strands to be safe. We state that to let you know that hanging that oversize Japanese jardinière overhead in the steam room in Bali is not optimal.

As a rule of thumb, a covered porch protecting it from direct weather is probably best, while indoors it should last for a considerable amount of time. Remember that no matter how strong the rope is, it is the HOOK that hold the hanger, so plan accordingly. A good quality hook will allow for a 5/8" thick ring to be hung from it and with a weight rating greater than its intended use.
