Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Nature provides this remarkable plant with "traps" to lure and capture it's food. The traps are covered inside by tiny hairs and a sticky sweet smelling substance attractive to insects. When an insect touches the trigger hair, the trap is activated and closes around it's victim. After digestion of it's meal (whick takes several days), the trap will open again for a new catch. PLANTING AND CARE: Keep moist at all times, rainwater or distilled water are preferred. Plants should not be fertilized (so therefore should be separated from your other plants). The insects it catches provide natural nourishment. Select a sunny window for your Venus Flytrap. In replanting only use sphagnum! Peat moss will do in a pinch. Put a plastic saucer underneath the plant to hold water and keep it's humidity proper but do not stand in a dish of water.

5 out of 5 stars Always wanted one!   August 20, 2008
bubba (brush prairie, wa)
Got one for my daughter after she read about them in a science work book. Arrived with 4 traps and is doing fine even after sitting on my desk for 3 days before opening (I was traveling when it arrived). It is well packaged and if you follow the directions carefully, will have a most interesting plant! Very educational, makes plants alot more interesting than just counting tree rings or comparing cones.

5 out of 5 stars Must research!!!   August 10, 2008

This plant is excellent! Its in tip-top condition, and it's already been a week. When I got one a year ago, it died after I changed it into regualar soil, and watered it with tap water. I researched the venus flytrap before I bought this product, and it has helped me a lot. I still keep it in the same pot, outside on top of my window sill, and it ate 2 flies by itself ever since I got it, which I didn't expect. I water it with distilled water from the supermarket, and sometimes I leave it in the rain outside. The traps have really good red coloration, and are a about 2 1/2 cm. When I first got it, it had 4 healthy traps, and a few more dying traps. Now, it has 7 healthy traps. I like it so much!!

5 out of 5 stars Venus Flytrap Care   July 19, 2008
Toy-ologist (NY)
Care.. This is a Bog plant.. it loves humidity and soaking in water.
Tap water can be used but let it sit in a container in the sun.. that will
dissipate the Chlorine.
Replant in ONLY sphagnum Peatmoss..
Transition to sunny location Gradually.. moving it from indoors to outdoors to fast is guaranteed to burn your plant.
Feeding it bugs with a tweezer will excellerate its growth.
NEVER LET THE SPHAGNUM DRY OUT !!!

5 out of 5 stars didn't think that these would do too well at first   June 18, 2008
Jackie Randolph (Lynchburg, VA USA)
i ordered 2 of these and was really disappointed at first. i thought that they weren't going to live, however, after about a week, started to do just fine & are eating bugs and everything. it is very important to research care for these plants before growing them.

5 out of 5 stars Nice Plant   June 5, 2008
Patricia Ivanov (Coram NY USA)
The plant came good with a small box and penuts. The plant was green and it had 2 traps(closed) a few days later it opened and i fed it flys. The plant is constantly changing. The plant's soil wasn't bone dry, it was actually wet. They did good :^)
