Amazon.com Review With 12 feeding stations and a special design that keeps squirrels out, this elegant bird feeder is exclusively "for the birds." Made of heavy-duty acrylic and copper, this tube-shaped feeder has a built-in seed funnel and a removable tray-so there's no more spilling the seed all over the lawn. An integrated dome guard foils squirrels and protects seed from weather. The feeder also features acrylic seed tubes with copper- armored ports impervious to vandal squirrels. Measuring 23-1/2 by 12-1/2 by 12-1/2 inches, the feeder holds up to 10 pounds of seed. Covered by a manufacturer lifetime warranty, the feeder arrives ready to hang. --Brian Olson

As good as the Opus model it replaces August 19, 2010 M. Kenney (Phila. PA) Except for the color, this Opus feeder is the same feeder as the one I purchased in 2001 -- the old one had gray plastic, with stainless steel around the seed ports. The plastic lid on my old one wore through from years of UV exposure. I wasn't thrilled about replacing the whole feeder when only the lid was worn out, but after 9 years it's hard to complain. This one seems as good as the one it replaces. If replacement parts were available, I would have given it 5 stars.
I saw a few complaints about the seed tray falling off and spilling seeds. The tray has pairs of latches that click into each tube when properly seated. My feeder is also mounted on a post that supports the tray, but in 9 years of lifting it on and off the post to fill it, the tray has never fallen off. Some people also complained that the dome lid and seed tray are copper-colored plastic, not real copper. Does anyone actually expect that much real copper for only $60?
great bird feeder August 7, 2010 BEE I did a lot of research on feeders as I was replacing my older feeders.. I did read the other reviews on this feeder .. for the price and its features I am very pleased and so are the birds. great feeder and it also looks nice hanging.
Great Feeder, but Opus Was Sold! July 28, 2010 Kenneth Manley (Brecksville, OH, US) I like this feeder, however when I purchased one reason I bought was the lifetime warranty Opus was sold to another company and they will not honor the lifetime warranty . Also, even though there are 'squirrel proof' ports, the plastic inserts can be removed by a determined squirrel.
Best bird feeder! July 5, 2010 Dannyboy Sturdy, heavy-duty plastic that squirrels can't chew into. The top & bottom are plastic, not copper. We use the "mess-free" bird seed so no waste on ground. We have cardinals, bluejays, woodpeckers, mockingbirds, indigo buntings, even bluebirds visit the feeder. Great product, great price.
Wonderful feeder! June 24, 2010 Gma T (Texas) I have had several of this model feeder, as have family members. We have tried other styles and keep coming back to this one. They are sturdy, durable, and easy to fill and maintain. The new copper color is beautiful!
The feeder can be easily modified to accommodate all types of seed, including thistle. However, I prefer to use black oil sunflower seed as it seems to attract so many desirable birds in my area (cardinals, chicadees, titmice, finches, etc.). Even though it is less expensive, I find that the "mixed bird seed" attracts trash birds like grackles and sparrows, so I don't use it.
The feeder is not "squirrel proof" as the pesky critters can shimmy right up a pole, so if you mount it on the ground, you will need to purchase a separate baffle to place below the feeder. Squirrels slide right off the rounded dome on top but you have to be careful not to place it too close to trees or buildings where they can jump and land on the bottom tray.
